BUSINESS PROCESS & SYSTEMS ASSESSMENT Many small businesses are concerned about e-Business. What is it? Do I have the correct tools? Where do I start? Can I afford it? Let’s start with a couple of definitions of e-Business These definitions mean that the scope of e-Business may encompass some or all of the activities in an organization and it is not limited to the simple question of “should I have a web site?”. It is quite feasible for small businesses to compete with larger companies in terms of business systems and technology. Obviously the scale of operations is different which means that the solutions will be different, but make no mistake, there are software applications suited to small organizations that deliver incredible functionality for low cost. Some are even free! Business owners usually know what they need or would like to have but often the challenge is knowing where to start. The Business Process & Systems Assessment is a fixed fee, initial evaluation of an organization’s day to day activities relative to the goals of the business. The assessment will incorporate a review of the effectiveness of any software, hardware and other technology that may be in current use. The results of the Business Process & Systems Assessment will be presented in an e-Business Readiness Handbook which will provide the user with a standardized report of the key areas being assessed. Each category will contain comments on the current state of the process, procedure or system and, if required, will include recommendations to improve the performance in those areas.
